My name is Alexis Woodman. I’m the author of Refreshed: A Devotional for Retired Athletes.
Refreshed is currently for sale here.
I’m finishing up my senior year of school at Georgia Tech and will be moving back to St. Louis, Missouri at the end of the spring to start my full time job in Alternative Investments.
Outside of school and work I love to stay active with different workout classes and running and I get my competitive fix with some tennis. I have a mini aussiedoodle, Nashville, who I adore and spoil. I also love to travel, watch a good sunset, try new food, and curate my own personal recipe book.
Since my tennis career, I’ve been documenting my journey through writing, thus Refreshed was born! Who knows where the next writing will take me, but there is always something in the works.
After graduating high school with three state tennis championships, I decided to hang up the rackets to pursue my academics and other career opportunities. Georgia Tech taught me a lot about myself instantly and has opened many doors for my professional life, but I struggled with identity, health, and goal setting post competition. I didn’t know who I was post-tennis and I realized many of my peers felt the same sediment. It has taken me a few years to get to a solid place after a lot of working on myself (and there are still extremely challenging days), but the 30 topics I wrote about in Refreshed are what I always go back to when I get in a rut. Now, as I take the first strides in my full-time career, I am reading back through Refreshed to help my mindset in this next season of life.
Whether you have been an athlete your whole life or just need a reset as you tackle what is ahead, I encourage you to pick up a copy of Refreshed. I intentionally made it a workbook style devotional, so that each of the 30 days could be looked at intentionally with reflection questions. And you don’t need an extra piece of paper to write down your thoughts.
My hope is that you take these 30 Days for yourself, with a group, or give a copy to someone you think could benefit from it. I’ve done devotionals by myself when I need good reflection and also with groups when I know I need discipline and meaningful conversation. Whatever you chose, thank you for joining in and supporting!
